My first training in mental health treatment was in Neurofeedback with the Othmer Institute. I also completed advanced training in neurofeedback a year later. I have continued to use neurofeedback (EEG biofeedback) and have had significant success in providing clients symptom relief from ADHD and anxiety.
My first work experience in mental health was as a wilderness field staff at Passages to Recovery (PTR), a wilderness treatment program for young adults with substance use and addictions issues. I would be with clients for 2 weeks at a time, living with the group as they camped in the Utah wilderness. While at PTR I began working as a therapist.
While working for PTR, I started graduate school at the Prescott College Master of Arts Program in Counseling Psychology. During graduate school, I split time between working full-time, completing coursework, and seeing clients as a therapist doing my practicum & internship.
I took a position as the Addiction Coordinator at Wingate Wilderness Therapy in Kanab, UT, after PTR closed. Wingate provided wilderness therapy for young adults and adolescents dealing with a variety of mental health and behavioral issues. Eventually I was named a Lead Therapist and worked with clients with a range of issues.
I graduated from Prescott College Master of Arts Program with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology.
I was offered an opportunity to help open an outpatient substance and mental health treatment program in Prescott, AZ. I spent the next few years helping run the clinical program and doing individual and group therapy with clients with a variety of issues including substance use disorder, mood issues, anxiety, and trauma.
I moved on to Blueprints for Recovery, an outpatient treatment program for young adult men that also integrated regular wilderness and adventure therapy. I was their Assistant Clinical Director, ran their adventure therapy program and eventually was named the Clinical Director, overseeing a team of therapists.
After a decade working at treatment programs, I decided to open a private practice and move my family back home to Southern California. And here I am!

I offer my counseling and clinical services to anyone who wants a little help overcoming their struggles or processing their thoughts and feelings. For over 11 years I have been working with clients in inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. Most of my experience has been with young men and women 18-35 with substance issues, but I have worked with individuals, families, and groups, with clients from age 6 to their 60’s, helping clients with everything from anxiety to trauma to mood disorders. Some clients I saw for years and helped do deep exploration of family dynamics and behavioral patterns, others found relief in a few weeks overcoming a bout of anxiety or specific issue around transition. While I have enjoyed the challenge of working with young people struggling with substance use issues and found myself able to be uniquely helpful there, I have the tools to help with a wide range of issues. In addition to my training as a mental health counselor working with individuals and families, and my training with neurofeedback that allows me to significantly help ADHD & Anxiety, I also have specialized training in EMDR that has been extraordinarily helpful for clients dealing with issues around trauma.
